RESEARCH INTERESTS

Piotr is interested in architecture, and ways in which architectural repertoire of representational practices, concepts and spatial imagination can contribute to forming new research methodologies. He equally enjoys design and writing, and seeks to interweave these in drawing out complex architectural situations and cultural phenomena. Topographically, Piotr’s research has been focused on contemporary Warsaw, and the post-Socialist and post-war condition, but his interests reach to all politically-charged sites of contest, conquest or conflict.

In his design work and research Piotr draws from prose and poetry, and the kind of critical theorisations that see creative practice as provocation (Flusser), a site of incessant impossibility (Adorno, Derrida), and a trans-historical endeavour (Agamben, Serres). He is interested in the past, but not necessarily in strengthening History’s hegemony over it (Benjamin, Zagajewski, Herbert). He is fond of architectural and literary imaginaries of future, but not of Design’s hegemony over it (Agrest).

Piotr is a co-founder and editor of a peer-reviewed architecture research e-journal Drawing On, which publishes design-led contributions from across the world.
